Sir David asked a punana whether it had ever used a belt or some other instrument on itself.

punana has done this several times. it strips naked and lies on the bed, then it raises its legs into the air and back behind its head so that it is looking up between its spread thighs.
Then punana reaches for the belt which it has placed next to it. it swings the belt against its ass; usually 20 strokes. 20 delicious stinging strokes, though not hard enough to cause marks that last more than a few minutes.
Next time, punana will imagine that it is You, Sir David, administering the strokes; watched, of course by Sir John and the others.
And, as for humiliation, Sir, if You wish punana to be humiliated, then it must endure it. What punana wants is of no importance.
